Research
My research focuses on minority representation in media-specifically LGBTQ, Latinx portrayals, & identity negotiation; as well as pop culture, identity, radio broadcasting, and issues of masculinity.
Service
As a first generation, queer professor of color, I feel it’s important to give back to my communities. I strive to serve those communities inside and outside of higher education.
Media
My research and teaching have been featured in international, U.S., and local media including CNN, The New York Times, Tidal Magazine, Remezcla, Texas Monthly, USA Today, Univision Noticias, and The Los Angeles Times, among others.
